Are you looking for a curriculum that teaches phonics and grammar skills, models sentence writing, promotes spelling proficiency and more? This bundle (Grouping Three) contains three files and is part of a larger curriculum package; over 25 printable activities for spelling and writing practice are included. Each of the three files includes a list of ten words focused on a specific phonics or grammar skill (30 words total). The 10 focus words are used throughout each of the following sections:
Word Building-Do your kids love puzzles? This activity is a puzzle using letters instead of shapes. Page one features the ten focus words, but the letters are scrambled. Students cut the letter boxes apart for each word. Page two provides a word box at the top and a grid for gluing the words in the correct spelling order. For those students who like a bit more challenge and want to spell the words on their own, page three provides the grid for gluing the letters in order, but has no word box at the top. This activity provides hands-on spelling practice, and the cutting and pasting aspect of the activity helps students develop abilities such as hand-eye coordination, bilateral coordination, and fine motor skills.
Color by Code-Know someone who loves to color by number? Chances are they’ll love this too. This activity page follows a similar pattern, but uses words instead of numbers. Students identify and write the words shown in smaller pictures, then color the larger picture using the code provided.
Sentence Writing-Do your kids struggle to create a quality sentence on their own? This section models sentence writing for students in three different ways before providing them with an opportunity to create their own sentences. Four different varieties of sentence-writing practice are included:
- Copy Time Students copy a modeled sentence in their own handwriting.
- Trace and Write Students trace a modeled sentence.
- Scrambled Sentences Includes differentiation: Version one gives students an opportunity to cut and manipulate words to form a new sentence before writing it. Moreover, in this version the student could arrange the words into a sentence and have an adult check for accuracy without the writing the sentence. Version two removes the cut and manipulate portion. This allows students who are more abstract thinkers to rearrange the words into a sentence in their minds before writing the sentence on the lines.
- My Own Sentences Students create and write their own sentences using the focus words of the week.
